Iberia jumps 20%, LATAM unwinds for LNY

January flips the December split. Iberia adds 20% as Lunar New Year prep firms the Cape routing, LATAM sheds 15% on the standard pre-LNY destocking, Mexico is flat.

China → Spain sea 40GP rose 20.42% to USD 3,850–4,700 and China → Portugal +20.34% to USD 3,200–3,900. The Iberian gateway prints its first up-month since November and the largest two-lane move since June. Algeciras transshipment volumes firmed as Lunar New Year prep tightened tonnage availability on Cape of Good Hope routings — the seasonal pattern that ran through December 2024 repeats on schedule.

The LATAM cluster shed in tight bands. Pacific Alliance lanes — Chile, Colombia, Ecuador — each printed -15.00%, Brazil -15.00% to USD 1,900–2,350, Peru -14.91%, Argentina -14.58%. Sixteen months of single-block behaviour. The Lunar New Year unwind on the China → South America trade ran on the same template as February 2025 — pre-LNY tonnage building looser, forward bookings thinning.

Mexico printed exactly flat at 0.00%. The lane neither participated in the LATAM destocking nor caught the Iberian firm. Manzanillo demand held at the November-December baseline as US Q1 tariff frontloading offset the seasonal LNY pattern that pulled the rest of LATAM down. The decoupling that started in mid-2025 holds.

    02 · Calibração

    Lane Tracker publishes a single-forwarder benchmark. Where SINO's lanes overlap with FBX (12 routes E-W) or Drewry WCI (8 routes), we publish a delta vs the public index. For the ~14-16 emerging-markets lanes with no public benchmark (Middle Corridor, East Africa, MENA secondary, SE Asia secondary, Caribbean), no comparable data exists publicly.
