Mexico breaks out 12%, the rest firms quietly

January is a Mexico story. The lane adds nearly 12% on tariff frontloading into Manzanillo while the South American cluster firms in low single digits and Iberia barely moves.

China → Mexico sea 40GP rose 11.95% to USD 5,700–6,950, the top mover in the pool by a wide margin. Manzanillo and Lazaro Cardenas absorbed accelerated frontloading as US tariff timelines crystallised in early January — the lane's market_snapshot flags the tariff rush directly. The move recovers the December underperformance and then some.

South America firmed in tight bands. The Pacific Alliance cluster — Chile, Colombia, Ecuador — each added 4.89% to USD 4,350–5,300, Argentina +4.76% and Peru +4.79%. The single-pulse pattern that ran through December held: Andean lanes still trade as a block. Brazil added 4.58% to USD 3,600–4,400.

Iberia decelerated. China → Spain rose 3.27% and China → Portugal +3.32% — both well under the December prints. Algeciras and Sines normalised as the post-Christmas inventory cycle completed and Red Sea capacity stabilised. The 17% December move did not extend; it consolidated.

    As tarifas são as medianas mensais próprias da SINO Shipping em 26 rotas saindo da China — o book de um único agente de carga, não um índice multi-armador. FCL/LCL/aéreo/ferroviário/expresso capturados na mesma semana de cada mês.

    02 · Calibração

    Lane Tracker publishes a single-forwarder benchmark. Where SINO's lanes overlap with FBX (12 routes E-W) or Drewry WCI (8 routes), we publish a delta vs the public index. For the ~14-16 emerging-markets lanes with no public benchmark (Middle Corridor, East Africa, MENA secondary, SE Asia secondary, Caribbean), no comparable data exists publicly.
