The Atlantic joins the surge; the Pacific sits it out

June's broad ocean surge reaches LATAM through the Atlantic and Iberia, not the West Coast. Brazil, Argentina and the nearshoring lanes lift hard while the Pacific Alliance prints flat.

China → Brazil and China → Argentina both rose 85.3% MoM to a $6,255-$7,645 range, and Mexico's nearshoring lane added 77.8% to $5,040-$6,160. The global June pulse landed on the lanes carriers most defend — the deep-sea Atlantic into Santos and the River Plate, and the trans-Pacific nearshoring route into Manzanillo, where the forward order books are structural.

Iberia moved with North Europe rather than the LATAM cluster: Portugal +74.2% ($4,860-$5,940) and Spain +56.4% ($4,644-$5,676) as the same North-Atlantic demand pulse that lifted WCI Rotterdam-New York 55% off its March low reached Algeciras, Valencia and Sines. Air freight stayed flat across the LATAM lanes — an ocean capacity-and-demand event, not a fuel shock.

The Pacific Alliance held flat. Chile, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador printed no move — the West Coast worked off its surplus capacity in May and found June with no slack to bid and no fresh pull to draw tonnage back. Flat is not stable: Chancay's first deep-sea calls begin in July, and the cluster most likely to reprice next is the one that just sat still.

Para observar no próximo mês

  • Chancay (Peru) first scheduled deep-sea calls in July — the flat Pacific Alliance is the cluster most likely to reprice as Callao loses direct-call share.
  • Brazil and Argentina +85.3% are the prime mean-reversion candidates if the broad demand pulse fades; Santos dwell and the São Paulo auto book are the floor under any give-back.
  • Iberia lifted with North Europe — watch whether the demand pulse holds into the summer import cycle or unwinds as it did post-Easter in May.

Lane Tracker publishes a single-forwarder benchmark. Where SINO's lanes overlap with FBX (12 routes E-W) or Drewry WCI (8 routes), we publish a delta vs the public index. For the ~14-16 emerging-markets lanes with no public benchmark (Middle Corridor, East Africa, MENA secondary, SE Asia secondary, Caribbean), no comparable data exists publicly.

    03 · Cadência e correções

Publicado mensalmente, na última semana do mês, na metodologia v1. Correções materiais ficam registradas no changelog da página de metodologia; snapshots de meses anteriores permanecem congelados nos valores publicados.
