The Americas hit their inflection; the interior opens

June's surge reached LATAM in full through the Atlantic. July is the come-down carriers themselves flagged: Mexico still leads, but Brazil and Argentina decelerate hard, Iberia splits on the July surcharge, and the Mercosur interior emerges as the next leg.

The Americas hit their inflection; the interior opens

China → Mexico led again, up 38.3% to $6,968-$8,517 on structural nearshoring pull into Manzanillo. But the deep-sea Atlantic cooled sharply: Brazil and Argentina rose 16.1% to $7,263-$8,877 — a real gain, but a fraction of June's +85.3%. That deceleration is the inflection the carrier desks called out this month, with US and South American lanes softening from July after running harder than Europe in the spring. The Atlantic is still climbing; it is no longer sprinting.

Iberia split. Spain rose 34.7% to $6,255-$7,645, moving with North Europe's 1 July peak-season surcharge round rather than the LATAM cluster, while Portugal added a milder 13.0%. The more telling signal is inland: Uruguay and Paraguay both firmed 16.1% with the Atlantic, and an EAA associate reports touring Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia with new Mercosur-interior partners expected soon. The landlocked demand feeding through Santos and Montevideo is where the next corridor is being built. Air freight held flat across the LATAM lanes — an ocean event, not a fuel shock.

The Pacific Alliance sat still for a second month. Chile, Colombia and Ecuador printed no move — and this cycle the desk restated their raw quotes, which arrived with a 40GP priced at or below their own 20GP, back to trend pending a clean read. Peru held flat too. Chancay's ramp has yet to reprice the West Coast the way June's watch note anticipated; flat is not stable, and the Pacific Alliance remains the cluster most exposed to a catch-up move once a credible quote lands.

Para observar no próximo mês

  • The Atlantic give-back: Brazil and Argentina cooled from +85% to +16%. A flat or negative August print confirms the carrier-flagged inflection has fully landed.
  • The Mercosur interior — Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia — is the corridor to watch as new partner capacity is announced; Santos and Montevideo dwell are the constraints.
  • The Pacific Alliance has held flat two months running with a bad-data cell this cycle; a clean Chile/Colombia/Ecuador quote is the first thing to re-check next month.
  • Iberia moved with the July surcharge, not fundamentals — watch Spain give back if the North-Europe PSS softens.

    02 · Cobertura

Lane Tracker publishes a single-forwarder benchmark. For the ~14-16 emerging-markets lanes with no public benchmark (Middle Corridor, East Africa, MENA secondary, SE Asia secondary, Caribbean), no comparable data exists publicly.

    03 · Cadência e correções

Publicado mensalmente, na última semana do mês, na metodologia v1. Correções materiais ficam registradas no changelog da página de metodologia; snapshots de meses anteriores permanecem congelados nos valores publicados.
