May is the first snapshot where the post-Lunar New Year capacity build on the South America trade unwound cleanly into rate compression. Santos is the only port still bid.

China → Brazil sea 40GP rose 8.7% month-over-month, the single upward move in the LATAM pool. Santos congestion and a sustained order book out of the Chinese auto and EV majors investing in São Paulo state kept the lane bid through what is otherwise a soft month for the cluster.

The Pacific Alliance lanes cooled in a cluster. Mexico, Chile, Peru and Colombia each shed roughly 7.35% on sea 40GP as carriers retired the surplus tonnage that had stayed deployed on the trade since the Lunar New Year peak. Ecuador went further — down 20.25% — as the Guayaquil banana export window thinned and feeder demand softened with it.

Iberia tracked the same direction with the same mechanics. Spain shed 19.03% and Portugal 6.06% as the post-Easter European import peak unwound and Algeciras transshipment volumes normalised. The two stories — Pacific Alliance and Iberia — are the same story told twice: capacity that overshot demand is now mean-reverting on schedule.

    As tarifas são as medianas mensais próprias da SINO Shipping em 26 rotas saindo da China — o book de um único agente de carga, não um índice multi-armador. FCL/LCL/aéreo/ferroviário/expresso capturados na mesma semana de cada mês.

    02 · Calibração

    Lane Tracker publishes a single-forwarder benchmark. Where SINO's lanes overlap with FBX (12 routes E-W) or Drewry WCI (8 routes), we publish a delta vs the public index. For the ~14-16 emerging-markets lanes with no public benchmark (Middle Corridor, East Africa, MENA secondary, SE Asia secondary, Caribbean), no comparable data exists publicly.
